Saturday.....whew....... What a day!!!!!!

Today was incredibly busy. Early breakfast followed by a tour of the turtle hospital.  Middle School kids then did a session on shark and rays including dissections, worked on original skits on habitats and did an exploratory snorkel around the island. That was followed by a conservation angling session. High school kids followed the turtle hospital with a snorkeling session to gather research data on indicator species populations and water quality, followed by an introduction to ROVs (remotely operated vehicles) used to explore the ocean. They controlled their own through an obstacle course. Finally they did a casseopia stress lab.

During our little but of free time in the evening, we were treated to an extraordinary sunset overlapping distant lightening.  Time stood still while we watched in awe as  the sun disappeared. Sunset was followed by a spectacular star filed sky. Nathan again helped us pick out constellations. Many spent their last free hour sketching, doing watercolor paintings or making jewelry.

I will continue to try to get kids to write. A few have but I haven't been still long enough to upload it. I wish you could see how these kids are down here. They are so absorbed and appreciative. This is a great group.

Please check old posts. I post pictures as I have time but usually go back and add after everyone is in bed.
